Welcome to OFPD's Newest Firefighter/Paramedics

A group of uniformed firefighters is posing in front of a red fire truck.

Congratulations to Orland Fire District's 10 new Firefighter Paramedics who were sworn in at a ceremony held at the Orland Civic Center on Tuesday, March 18th.  In March, 2024 they started the intense 10-week Fire/EMS Academy to provide them with the skills necessary to be successful with the Orland Fire District, and were then released as Probationary Firefighters, functioning under the direction of a company officer as they worked to complete their 1-year probationary period.   Fire Chief Michael Schofield welcomed their families and spoke to the long and successful careers they could have with the Orland Fire District by continuing to learn and advance.   Training Officer  Lieutenant Bob Griffin III spoke of the hard work they all put in to be successful and get to the point they are at, and thanked their families for their support while they went through this process.   Their loved ones joined them as Fire Commissioner DJ Jeffers administered their Oaths of Office and their loved ones pinned on their new badges.  Welcome!

(Note: Firefighter Joel Hopman was out-of-town on a mission trip and was unable to attend.)
